RideMate Terms and Conditions
Last updated: [EFFECTIVE_DATE]
1. About these terms
These Terms govern your use of the RideMate mobile app, website and related services (the "Service"), provided by [COMPANY_LEGAL_NAME], a company registered in Sri Lanka (registration no. [REG_NO]), of [REGISTERED_ADDRESS] ("we", "us"). By creating an account, joining the waitlist or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. Your electronic acceptance is valid and binding under the Electronic Transactions Act, No. 19 of 2006 (as amended). If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. Who can use the Service
You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a binding agreement. You need a mobile number that you control and can verify with a one-time code. You are responsible for keeping your phone and account secure and for all activity under your account. Tell us promptly at hai@getridemate.life if you think your account has been misused.
3. What the Service does — and does not do
The Service lets you store personal copies of vehicle documents and your driving licence, receive renewal and maintenance reminders, keep service and repair records, and share selected vehicle records with members of your family group.
- The Service is not a government-issued or official digital document and is not affiliated with the Department of Motor Traffic, any Provincial Revenue Licence authority, the eRevenue Licence service or any insurer. Always carry or produce the original documents the law requires.
- The Service does not renew any licence, insurance or certificate for you, and does not tell you which documents your vehicle legally requires.
- Document scanning uses automated text recognition (OCR/AI) to suggest details such as document numbers and dates. Suggestions may be wrong. You must check and confirm every expiry date. Reminders are based only on dates you confirm.
- Reminders depend on your device settings, notification permissions, connectivity and third-party push services. We do our best to deliver them on time but cannot guarantee delivery. You remain responsible for renewing documents and servicing your vehicle on time.
- Maintenance intervals are set by you; we do not give mechanical or safety advice.
4. Families, vehicles and limits
- Each family group has one owner. The owner manages vehicles, invitations and what each member can see or edit.
- A family can have up to five active vehicles. Archived vehicles keep their history but do not count toward the limit.
- You can be a permanent member (including as owner) of up to two families at a time.
- An owner who wants to leave or delete their account must first transfer ownership to an existing member who accepts, or delete the family.
- Records a member adds to a family remain with the family if that member leaves or is removed.
We may change these limits with notice as the Service develops.
5. Sharing with others
- Your driving licence is private to your account and cannot be shared through a family.
- By sharing a vehicle or document with someone, you confirm that you are entitled to do so and that the people concerned agree where required.
- Shared access can be revoked by the owner at any time. We cannot recall screenshots, photos or copies that a recipient made outside the app before access ended.
- Invitation links are personal. Do not forward them to anyone other than the intended person.
6. Your content
You keep ownership of the documents, photos, receipts and information you upload ("Your Content"). You give us a limited, non-exclusive licence to store, process (including automated text recognition), display and transmit Your Content only to operate, secure and improve the Service for you and the people you share with. You confirm that Your Content is accurate to the best of your knowledge and that you have the right to upload it.
7. Acceptable use
You must not:
- upload forged, altered or someone else's documents without their permission, or use the Service to deceive any authority, insurer, buyer or other person;
- upload unlawful, offensive or malicious content, or content that infringes another person's rights;
- attempt to access other users' data, bypass limits or security, reverse engineer the Service, or interfere with its operation — conduct that may also be an offence under the Computer Crime Act, No. 24 of 2007;
- use the Service in breach of any Sri Lankan law, including the Online Safety Act, No. 9 of 2024, where applicable;
- create accounts in bulk, misuse invitations, or use automated tools to access the Service.
We may remove content or suspend accounts that break these rules.
8. Fees
The Service is free at launch. We may introduce a paid plan for family groups in the future. Before any charge, we will tell you the price (in LKR), the billing period and what happens if you do not pay, with reasonable advance notice. We will never charge you without your explicit consent. Payments made through Google Play or the App Store are also subject to their terms.
9. Availability and changes
We may update, change or discontinue features, and the Service may sometimes be unavailable for maintenance or reasons beyond our control. Opening shared documents requires an internet connection. We will give reasonable notice of significant changes that affect you.
10. Our intellectual property
The Service, its software, design, name and logos belong to us or our licensors. You may use the Service only as these Terms allow.
11. Ending your use
You can stop using the Service and delete your account at any time (see "Delete your account" in our Privacy Policy). We may suspend or close an account that breaches these Terms, creates risk for others, or where required by law. Sections that by their nature should continue (including 6, 10, 12, 13 and 15) continue after your account ends.
12. Disclaimers
Except as required by law, including the Consumer Affairs Authority Act, No. 9 of 2003, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available". We do not guarantee that the Service or automated suggestions will be error-free, uninterrupted, or suitable for any particular purpose.
13. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by Sri Lankan law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss arising from: an expired document, fine, penalty, insurance refusal, missed service or breakdown; incorrect information you entered or confirmed; reminders not delivered because of device settings, connectivity or third-party services; or access you granted to others. Our total liability to you for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or LKR [LIABILITY_CAP_LKR] if you paid nothing. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
14. Indemnity
You agree to compensate us for reasonable losses and costs arising from your unlawful use of the Service or from content you uploaded or shared without the right to do so.
15. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka. Please contact us first so we can try to resolve any issue. If it cannot be resolved, the courts of Colombo, Sri Lanka, will have jurisdiction, without affecting any right you have to approach the Consumer Affairs Authority or another competent authority.
16. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. For material changes we will notify you in the app or by email/SMS at least 14 days before they take effect. Continuing to use the Service after that date means you accept the updated Terms.
